Air Compressor Mistakes

The biggest mistake that most people make when buying an air compressor is getting one that is too small for the job. A lot of suppliers don’t understand compressor fundamentals. The CFM (Cubic Foot Per Min) on the sticker is usually the piston displacement NOT what actually comes out the pipe.
1. Piston displacement = Ideal World Figure (100% efficiency which doesn’t exist!)
2. F.A.D. (Free Air Delivery) = Actual output at specific P.S.I. (Pounds Per Square Inch)
If a machine requires 15CFM to run that means it needs 15CFM FAD.
So when purchasing your air compressor make sure it has the correct Free Air Delivery for your needs.
We supply the McMillan range of Air Compressors more info to follow.
